A good 2022 harvest

Grape quality is excellent with a slightly lower yield owing to summer drought

In Canale, in the heart of Roero, Dino and Pietro, the fourth generation of the Negro family of growers, have been managing the family estate with verve, since 1996.

With them in charge, the estate continues to grow and change, starting with vineyard management. These are treated with great care and with the utmost respect for the land, using a minimum of chemical products.

The estate grows only autochthonous grape varieties: Barbera, Nebbiolo, Arneis, Favorita and Chardonnay.

The vineyards are located in strategic positions especially adapted to the cultivation of vines in this magnificent part of Piedmont, always an outstanding winegrowing region.

Today the estate produces about 80,000 bottles, a number easily managed by a family-run operation.

The 2022 vintage has not been an easy one, owing to the drought and high temperatures. However, wise management of the vineyards along with the great resilience of autochthonous Roero varieties has allowed for a slightly earlier harvest in September of very healthy, decidedly high-quality grapes.
